Not every prophet is the prophet for you. And some may even be false prophets. If they have to do extra work for divine insight, constantly miss the mark, and don't have direct insight from the Holy Spirit in regards to your situation, then they just are not the prophet meant for you. A prophet's job is to simply deliver the word. That's all they are required to do. They only know in part. They cannot make you do anything. If they try to make things happen or grip things due to feeling out of control, it is because they are insecure in their trust in God’s ability to perform. The word is not made for them. It is made for the receiver. The receiver's job is to labor and find out what it means for them. Always pay close attention, tap into your gift of discernment, and labor to decipher which part was them altering what God was speaking through them (flesh) and which part was the Holy Spirit. Pay attention to your inner witness. It always feels great when it's confirmation, but when it's a new word that may seem foreign, it is best to just leave it on the shelf. If it never comes to pass, you never have a peace about it, or it doesn't confirm anything that you already received from the Lord, then just toss it. Remember to try the Spirit. When you hear from God for yourself, wait on Him, pray, allow Him to lead you, and let Him do His job, He is faithful to fulfill His plan and promise. We cannot do His job. He is sovereign, and He knows how to orchestrate the plans of those that truly seek Him. Whatever His will is, He will bring it to pass.
Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and even now is already in the world. You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world. - I John 4:1-4 (c) 2020
